Born on October 24, 1948, the newly inducted minister died after a massive heart attack early today morning.
According to a doctor who treated him, Saldanha was brought to the hospital by his wife in a serious condition. A panel of doctors battled in vain to save his life.
The Cortalim legislator had sworn-in as minister on March 9 after his party was voted to power in the March 3 election.
The second time legislator was allocated Tourism, Forests and Environment portfolios.
He had joined BJP little before the assembly election and was among five other Catholic candidates to be given the party ticket.
He was earlier elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly as United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) leader and was even then a member of the Manohar Parrikar government. He was the tourism minister during his previous tenure as well. Read the full report here.
