According to reports, the coal-fired UMPP was to come up at Sarguja in Chhatisgarh. Ramesh said the project is in a no-go area which means there can be no developmental activity in the area at the cost of razing forest cover. On the UMPP in Orissa, he said the ball is in the Power Ministry's court, as three coal-fired projects vying for permissions are close to each other, thus his ministry cannot give the nod to all. "The real problem with the Orissa UMPP is that there is another project of the NTPC and another project of the Orissa Power Generating Corporation (in close vicinity) and I have said that all three cannot come because all three put an intolerable burden on the forest," he said.
