This was disclosed by Lok Sabha MP from Puri, Pinaki Mishra while addressing the 45th foundation day celebration of Berhampur University.
âUnion minister for environment and forest, Jayaram Ramesh has promised me to clear the project in the next meeting of the ministry when I called on him to discuss about the environment clearance of some of the important projects in Orissa including Gopalpur Port and Posco", Mishra said.
âI hope the port project will get the MoEF nod soon", he said. Stating that Ramesh is a person who usually keeps his words, Mishra said, âearlier he had assured me to clear the Brutunga irrigation project and he did it despite several objections to the project".
The upgradation work of Gopalpur port has hit a roadblock with the green activists alleging that the project would affect the mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtles at Rushikulya river mouth rookery. Read the full report here.
