In a snub to the Congress-led Haryana government, MoEF has placed the evidence collected by Mr Chaturvedi before the CVC for examination. It has also demanded a high-level probe into Mr Chaturvedi's allegations.
Mr Chaturvedi has had to play dearly for his role of whistle blower against powerful vested interests by facing twelve transfers in five years, suspension and a fabricated chargesheet for exposing large scale irregularities in several projects.
Defending his officer, Mr Ramesh stated, “We have also found that the documentary evidence submitted by Sanjiv Chaturvedi is robust and needs to be investigated further. We are seeking the advice of the CVC on the modalities of this investigation," minister of environment Jairam Ramesh said in a letter to Haryana forest minister Ajay Singh Yadav.
Mr Ramesh further warned Mr Yadav, “The matter has been examined by us in detail. We find no justification for reviewing our earlier order dated January 19 revoking the charge-sheet filed against Sanjiv Chaturvedi." Read the full report here.
