While pointing out that Chandrapur ranks fourth on the list of most polluted cities in the country and tops the list for Maharashtra, but data on parameters like Compressive Environmental Pollution Index (CEPI), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Particulate Matter (TPM) and Ambient Air Quality (AAQ) in the action plan specify that these parameters are slightly on the higher side which suggests that it is totally a manipulated one to make the private industries scapegoats, Ahir alleged. Thus, the action plan has deliberately overlooked these government undertakings thereby ignoring the plight of over four lakh people in Chandrapur, one lakh at Warora and Bhadrawati, 50,000 at Durgapur and Padmapur and so forth, he stressed. Meanwhile, Suresh Chopane, President of Green Planet Society along with other members is skeptical about the proposed action plan on the grounds that a similar action plan was proposed in the year 2006 but the net result was another action plan in 2010 without noteworthy results from the previous plan.
