MPT Jurisdiction Notification Needs Amendment: Kamat

Replying to a calling attention motion in the Goa legislative assembly on Friday, Kamat said, "The MPT notification was issued in 1963 and probably nobody even saw it. I have written to the prime minister and the union minister for shipping and even called on them personally.
"I told them the problems of the people and that Goans will resist attempts to take over their land. I will call on them again and tell them that the MPT notification needs to be amended," Kamat said.
With regard to the March 31 demolition of structures in Khariawada in Vasco, Kamat said that he has met the new MPT chairman and has asked for various documents pertaining to the Khariawada jetty and of the houses that were demolished. Read the full report here.
