Mumbai Oil Spill: Damaged Mangroves Hit Again

The impact of the oil spill is now clearly visible on the mangroves of Mumbai. The lower portion of the mangroves at Bandra has turned dark because of a layer of oil, while the upper portion is fresh and green as normal.

CNN-IBN has found that the stretch of Mumbai's already dwindling mangrove cover has been badly affected once again after last year's massive Chitra oil spill. Many of them now look almost lifeless, ironically at a time when they burst into life.

"This wouldn't have happened in Honkong or Singapore. What are we doing to ensure this doesn't happen again," said Sherli Singh, Chairman, Juhu Resident's Association. Read the full report here.
