"With the manufacturing growth rate recording a 21 month low at 2.3% as reported in July 2011, it is important that we bring a sharp focus on the policy framework of manufacturing, given the present scenario of falling manufacturing investments as well as the imperative need to create 10-12 million additional jobs every year, which would contribute towards inclusive growth at the bottom of the pyramid. He further added that a very well discussed and researched manufacturing policy draft has already been mooted. Industry, therefore, feels that the long overdue manufacturing policy should be announced at the earliest," said CII's Manufacturing Council Chairman, Venu Srinivasan.
Srinivasan went on to say that “since liberalization in the early 1990's, no major manufacturing reform has taken place in the country, The Manufacturing Policy will be the harbinger of the next big change to create jobs, make India competitive and bring about inclusive growth".
