This bright reddish-orange colored frog has multiple macroglands which are absent in all presently known species of Philautus, Pseudophilatus and Raorchestes. According to scientists, the pronounced crawling behavior of the species could be a result of the extremely short length of their limbs. The species is possibly restricted to less than 3 sq. kms. on the summit of Anaimudi the highest peak in Western Ghats, owing which it demands immediate conservation priority.
