The arrest was preceded by a long-drawn inspection that continued on late into the night, as DFOs and staff from four divisions aided the investigation by tightening security and screening every vehicle that passed through the check post. Authorities have also identified political links within the elephant poaching and tusk trade, and the necessary arrests have been made. There are also suggestions that a few of the accused have links with the international ivory trade market.
