No Commercial Devpt In 100m Zone

The new Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms will permit the redevelopment of only Koliwadas within 100 m of the coastline, instead of the earlier stipulation (CRZ notification, 1991) of 200 m. Ramesh, however, added a caveat.

 

"The amendment in the no-development zone is strictly for the fishing community and traditional residence of koliwadas . No commercial development such as five-star hotels will be permitted under the new rule," said the environment minister at a press conference at the state-owned Sahyadri guest house.
