No Green Court Fee For Now

The minister's decision came in reaction to a news report in TOI detailing how the 'fee' would make victims pay for seeking justice.
The environment ministry had set up the National Green Tribunal but it is yet to become operational. The special court will have exclusive powers to hear all cases pertaining to environmental laws that do not have a criminal charge.
The ministry had recently passed the rules to regulate the workings of the special court and presented the rules in the Supreme Court, where a petition is being heard about the delay in operationalising the courts. The controversial clause in the rules had been noted by EIA Resource and Response Centre — a Delhi-based environmental watchdog. Read the full report here.
