NO Northern Bald Ibis In Syria?

Field biologists from turmoil ridden Syria have reported that only one Northern Bald Ibis has returned to its breeding site in the country - Palmyra. The birds had been rediscovered in 2002 when three breeding pairs were spotted. The birds winter in Ethiopia and return to Syria in the spring. Of the pair that survived the last two years, only the female has returned this spring, raising questions about the future of the bird in Syria.
