Even Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who reportedly supports the views of Jairam Ramesh on the issue, took a studied silence during the debate which lasted for more than three hours.
Jairam Ramesh has given an interim stay order till December 31 for the Lavasa project work. But the Congress-NCP State Government had no statisfactory answers to furnish when the probing Shiv Sena-BJP members asked on the floor of the House why the State Government gave the provisional environmental clearance for the project in a hurry.
