A top forest official deputed in the Wildlife Wing of the the Forest Department has dragged the inquiries conducted by Murthy into suspicion. The official talking to a news channel declined to offer any official comment on the three cases forwarded by the Panna Field Director with the recommendation of a CBI probe.
However off the record, the official alleged that the inquiries conducted by Murthy were erroneous. He maintained that the documents pertaining of these cases are tampered with. “At times the forest employees leave some empty spaces on the jabtinama and someone had caught hold of such documents and forged it and showed confiscation of tiger skin and others," claimed the official.
Accordingly, dozens of cases of tiger skin seizure have been prepared, claimed the official. The official categorically mentioned that the Panna Field Director has based his inquiries on dubious statements. “The Panna Field Director has interpreted the statements in incorrect manner, so even the CBI cannot do anything in this regard," observed the official.
