The forest officials are repeatedly retreating that the tigress which had raided the Kerwa-Kaliasot area in the last one-month or so but the villagers have claimed that the marauder has preyed upon a cow in Kerwa area on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the tiger scare has also been reported from Chiklaud area in Amarthone beat in Obedullaganj. Farmers from the nearby Bakalia area have reported that they have spotted a tigress and two cubs in the area several times in the last one-week or so.
With the presence of a big cat in the area, the locals are feeling intimidated and large numbers of persons have stopped going to fields with the lurking threat. The area is situated in close proximity of Chiklaud locality and has several fields and houses of farmers. Besides, Chiklaud also has a habitation of few hundred houses and the Kothi of erstwhile Bhopal Nawab is also situated in the area, which houses a small population.
The locals informed that they had intimated the forest check post in charge but forest officials are yet to find out anything concrete.
Locals claimed that three days back the big cat family was seen near the waterfall in the area and on the Chiklaud road as well. One of the farmers from the area informed that he had spotted the tigress from close distance and fearing attack from the big cat, the farmer had spent the whole night on a tree.
