PAC Probes Into Illegal Mining In Goa’s Forest

The committee headed by Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar has begun studying the details furnished by the Forest Department and Mines and Geology Department.

The documents mention that extraction of iron ore majorly concentrated in the Sattari, Quepem and Sanguem talukas as the regions are covered with dense forest.

The illegal mining activity was revealed in the Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) report.

It was with the intervention of Chief Secretary Sanjay Shrivastava that the concerned departments submitted the data to the PAC, which took over the probe on Monday. Read the full report here.
