The colony in question is situated right in the middle of the Pench core area and occupies 15 ha. of forest land. Kishor Rithe, Nature Conservation Society, Amravati, had filed a writ petition based on which the court passed an order on November 19, giving directives to have the irrigation colony vacated within two weeks.  Rithe said, "Hopefully, the government will soon start demolishing the structures and deploy the Special Tiger Protection Force in one of the structures close to the road and power station to effectively patrol the entire park."
