Singh was to inaugurate an ecological park created out of wasteland and the DMK was hoping that the public appearance of the two leaders on the same dais would openly reaffirm the solidity of the DMK-Congress alliance. The alliance had come under a cloud after the spectrum scam, which led to A. Raja's resignation.
But the PMO found out that the 58-acre park, developed at Rs 100 crore, did not have a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Union environment ministry. Read the full report here.
