The Shri Vishnu Primary School pupils have developed a way to reduce energy use by re-using everyday items in and around the house to create a solar cooker.
The cooking project manages to boil two litres of water within 25 minutes.
Newswatch spoke to 10-year-old Thandolwethu Motsepa, who says he's excited their project has been selected to go through to the finals of Eskom's ETA Awards in Jo'burg, in the young scientist category. Read the full report here.
