Posco Project May Have Cleared Last Hurdle

According to the state government, resolutions passed by village assemblies of Dhinkia and Gobindapur, which comprise the major portion of the Posco project area, have no legal validity.
The Orissa government's April 29 letter has put the Environment Ministry in a predicament. Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh will have to balance the demands of ensuring social justice and respect for the principles of federalism.
The task has been made difficult with the BJD-ruled Orissa government charging the Centre, and the Environment Ministry in particular, with victimising it and stunting its development prospects. Ramesh is expected to take a final call on the matter in a few days. Read the full report here.
