Ramesh was speaking after inaugurating the 13th biennial conference of International Association for the Study of Commons in Hyderabad.

Sustaining quality forests over a certain area, he explained, could result in the same amount of carbon sequestration as degraded forests scattered over vast stretches. He said this might also reduce potential conflicts. Read the full report here.
