Ramesh To Discuss Coastal Road Proposal With Chavan This Week

The state government has now proposed to build the second phase of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link as a coastal road instead of a sea link. The proposal needs to be cleared under the new Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) notification. The CRZ 2011 does not permit coastal roads, but allows building roads on stilts along the coast, especially in Mumbai.
Chavan is expected to attend the meeting and participate in the presentation, along with MSRDC officials. The MSRDC is the implementing agency for the sea link projects between Versova and Nariman Point. The coastal road will be on the lines of Marine Drive, or Queen's Necklace, which has been built on reclaimed land. Read the full report here.
