Ramesh Wants Eco Impact Study On Shongtang, Clears Changu-I

Forest clearances to other crucial hydel projects — Renuka Dam (40 MW), a multi-purpose project in Himachal's Sirmour district, and 800 MW Kol Dam project, being executed by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) — have also been kept in abeyance by the ministry.

 

Union Minister for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh, in a letter to Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, has said only three of the nine pending hydro-power projects, for which the state government had submitted proposals for forest clearances, have been given environmental clearances.
