Responding to Climate Change

Titled “Environmental Outlook to 2030," the report analyses “red light issues," including global warming, water shortages, energy, biodiversity loss, transportation, agriculture and fisheries. “A window of opportunity to act is now open," the report said. “Without more ambitious policies, increasing pressures on the environment could cause irreversible damage within the next few decades." The report recommends that governments impose “green taxes" to encourage environmentally friendly technologies and practices. It urges rich countries to help poorer ones by providing them with technology and expertise to help them develop without polluting.
