Registration Details: Register with Valmi Shah Shirodkar or Mallika Narvekar by calling at 022-23016848/49 or sending an email to valmi@sanctuaryasia.com/mallika@sanctuaryasia.com. Please indicate the number of people in your group, the ages of any accompanying children, and whether you will bring your own vehicle for transport within the park. Please register quickly to avoid disappointment, since space is limited and slots fill up fast. Registration is mandatory and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 5, or when slots fill up, whichever is earlier.
After paying your entrance fees (Rs. 33/person) at the ticket counter, meet the Sanctuary group on the left, just inside the park (near the park map). Once inside, you will be required to pay the Nature Information Centre (Forest Department) fees (Rs. 75/person) after which there will be no other payment required. There may not be reliable cellphone coverage once we're inside the park, so we urge everyone to be on time; if you miss the group, it will be tough to find us.
Attire and what to carry: Please wear earth-coloured (green, brown, grey) clothes, comfortable and loose clothes. Bring a cap/hat and raingear, wear trekking /sports shoes. You may want to carry a spare set of clothes for children in case they get wet in the stream. Don't forget to carry water/fruit juices and a snack.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park: In the heart of metropolitan Mumbai exists one of the most unique forests in the world, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). At just over 103 sq. km in size, this city forest could fit New York's Central Park 30 times over within its boundaries. There are more butterfly species (150) in this 103 sq. km. wilderness than exist in all of the United Kingdom! There are 40 species of mammals including free-ranging leopards, 296 bird species, 1,000 plus flowering plant species and a 2,000-year-old cave system located inside this park. This is the teak-dominated, moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forest that we want you to visit with us. Ten minutes from the entrance gate you will not even believe you are in Mumbai!
