Sena Pans Ramesh For Lavasa Objections

In scathing editorial on Thursday, Saamna, the Sena mouthpiece, slammed the Union minister for environment and forests Jairam Ramesh, and "the environmentalist-RTI activist gang" for raising objections about Lavasa, which is coming up near Pune, seven long years after the project took off in 2004.

 

Alleging that New Delhi was putting obstacles in the completion of the multi-crore hill city because it was Pawar's "dream project", Saamna said the Union ministry for environment and forests should have woken up to issues such as land acquisition and ecological imbalance before Lavasa was cleared. Saamna wondered if the Union ministry for environment and forests was "blackmailing" Pawar and his supporters in the corporate sector. Read the full report here.
