Union environment minister Jairam Ramesh made the announcement on the sidelines of the celebrations of the World Wetland Day at the bird sanctuary. The sanctuary this year has been chosen for the official function.
"We will prepare a proposal for the breeding centre with the help from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Crane Foundation. I hope to see the centre functional in three months," said Ramesh. "We will hire experts and try and trace the route of the migration of Siberian cranes to Keoladeo. Next, we will take corrective measure to ensure that the migration to the sanctuary does not stop," he added. Read the full report here.
