Study Recommends Minimum Flow On Ganga Tributaries

Several dams on the two rivers could become financially unviable with environment minister Jairam Ramesh stating that his ministry will implement these standards.

The Alternate Hydro Energy Centre of IIT Roorkee was commissioned to carry out a cumulative impact assessment of the proposed dams coming up on the two rivers in Uttarakhand up to Devprayag.

The report's first impact was felt recently when the ministry's Forest Advisory Committee, based on this and another report on the impact of these dams on biodiversity, rejected three out of the five proposals that came before it. Read the full report here.
