The programme was conducted by Prof. Dr. Parvish Pandya, Sanctuary Asia's Head of Science & Photography Department, Valmi Shah Shirodkar, KFT-Mumbai Coordinator and Gaurav Shirodkar, Coordinator for Natural History & Photography. Thirty one teachers from 30 schools participated in the programme. These were not just Science and Biology teachers, but also included English, Math and Social Science teachers.
Sessions were held to familiarise school teachers with the annual KFT programme. They were guided on how to run the KFT programme at their schools. They were told how they can inspire every child to save the tiger, and all plants and animals which receive protection in the name of tiger through various activities. They were also told how a nature trail is the most effective activity to get a child interested in nature. Teachers were also informed about how they can use the Internet, the Sanctuary Asia and Sanctuary Cub magazines, books, KFT teacher's manual and other materials to sensitise children about nature and protecting the environment.
Dr. Pandya stressed that our young brigade needs to understand the 'values' of natural resources, and not just their prices. All teachers received a certificate of participation after the programme.
