This winter, Bhavan's College, Andheri presents SunPlugged - the GreenKarbon Solar Festival, an initiative of Sanctuary Asia and Deutsche Bank, powered by Tata Power Solar, in partnership with Exide Industries, Prakruti the Bhavan's Nature Club and Muni Seva Ashram.
A celebration of the sun, the festival encourages us to abstract, innovate, adapt and build a sustainable future for urban India. We will highlight the connection between biodiversity conservation and the battle against climate change, while showcasing practical low carbon alternatives, sustainable solutions and ways to efficiently and creatively cut down energy use and therefore carbon emissions. Using film, dance, music and technical demonstrations, we will be showcasing the work of some of India's most passionate green warriors.
Performances and stalls will be powered by the largest demonstration solar power plant of its kind ever to have been set up in Mumbai. SunPlugged will also include a vast array of solar products including solar lanterns, cookers and street lighting systems by the Muni Seva Ashram, a recycled furniture display, a pedal power station where you can charge your cell phone by cycling and rooftop gardens!
Orissa's famous tiger dancers, the Bagh Nritiya, will be perfoming at the event along with bands Vivienne, Bombay Acoustic People, Tribal Flora and Solar Punch and singers Shubha Mudgal and Mala Ramadorai.
