Of the eight Ministers from Tamil Nadu, three are of Cabinet rank — P. Chidambaram, G.K. Vasan and M.K. Alagiri (DMK), one is Minister of State with independent charge — Jayanthi Natarajan — and four have Minister of State rank — S.S. Palanimanickkam, S. Gandhiselvan, S. Jagatrakshakan and D.
