Tough Task Ahead For Orissa To Convince Ramesh Over Posco

The environment ministry's Forest Advisory Committee has received resolutions from two affected villages from the Posco site stating that their rights have not been settled under the Act and they are against handing over their traditional lands to the Korean steel giant.

 

More than a month ago, while giving a conditional clearance to Posco, Ramesh had asked the state government to provide a written assurance that it had followed the Forest Rights Act and settled the individual and community rights of the claimants to the forest lands. Read the full report here.
