The conservation of biodiversity is essential for maintaining the equilibrium of climatic factors which are affecting us everyday," Alva said while releasing a book "Biodiversity Potential of the Himalayas" in the hill resort of Nainital. The book contains 27 research papers on biodiversity of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, western Himalayas and eastern Himalayas.
