This year saw Arif Siddique being honoured for his tireless work to protect the wildernesses of Arunachal Pradesh; Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Forest Cell was honoured for its great volunteering initiative; and Rushikulya Sea Turtle Protection Committee for its incredible work over the years to save the vulnerable Olive Ridley Turtle.
The much-deserving winners were chosen after intense deliberation. Mohammed Dilawar, Founder President, Nature Forever Society said "We have been following their work closely over the past few years and have measured the impact of their conservation and sustainability initiatives. From its inception, this award has grown in stature and the winners have been contributing tremendously with their time and effort, and more often than not, they are self-funding these initiatives."
NFS also launched the ‘Help the Birds in Summer' campaign at the event. A World Sparrow Day 2015 programme was also organized at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly Prince of Wales Museum) on March 17, 2015 that saw a weeklong exhibition of photographs based on ‘Sparrows of the World'.
Ever since its inception in 2006,NFS has been staunchly working for the conservation of the House Sparrow, among other flora and fauna, by creating awareness, imparting knowledge and involving citizens in conservation initiatives and campaigns.
