Snow leopards Uncia uncia have been categorised as endangered species by the World Conservation Union since 1972 and are protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The section, Programs for Survival details worldwide efforts undertaken by the International Snow Leopard Trust to save this species. The slideshows in the Photos and Footage sections depict how human life and that of the snow leopard are intertwined at the heights of the Himalaya in Pakistan, Mongolia and India. This section has some fabulous photographs of animal behaviour. The Classroom link has some fun stuff for kids too, to help them understand different aspects of mountain diversity and conservation.
